Richard E. Lange, 83, Ferdinand

Richard LangeRichard E. Lange, 83, of Ferdinand, died Thursday (December 5) at his home. He was born in Ferdinand June 16, 1930, to Herman and Ida (Begle) Lange. He married Aleene Blessinger April 19, 1952, in St. Joseph Church in Jasper.

Richard was a retired farmer. He was past director of Farm Bureau Co-Op, past director of Farm Bureau, and  past director of the Huntingburg Conservation Club. He was a member of St. Anthony and Ferdinand Senior Citizens, St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Joseph’s Sodality. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, spending time with family and friends and playing cards and dominos.

He is survived by his wife, Aleene Lange; three sons, Jim Lange and wife Maria, Ken Lange and wife Selma, and Dick Lange and wife Jane, all of Ferdinand; two daughters, Bonnie Kerstiens and husband Gene, and Judy Englert and husband Greg, all of Ferdinand; one sister Lastie Carl, New Albany; one brother, Norman Lange, Ferdinand; one half sister, Bernita Metz, St. Anthony; one half brother, Donnie Hoppenjans, Ferdinand; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny, Ernest, and Alfred Lange; and one sister, Minnie Hoppenjans.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Monday at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Condolences may be shared at
