Farbest Cuts Ribbon On New Knox County Plant

Huntingburg-based Farbest Foods cut the ribbon Monday on its new $75 Million Vincennes production plant.

Farbest president Ted Seger was joined by Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and Vincennes mayor Joe Yochum for the ceremony.  The plant will go into operation this coming Monday.  When at full capacity, the fully-automated 227,000 square foot facility, will employ about 300 people.

Farbest put a new turkey feed mill into operation in nearby Bruceville back in October to supply to new plant.  It will employ about 30 people when at full production.

Farbest, which also has a processing plant in Huntingburg, is one of the largest turkey producers in the U.S., shipping about 1 million pounds of fresh and frozen turkey products daily to brand-name food processors in the U.S. and around the world.
