Betty J. Epple, 81, Jasper

Betty EppleBetty J. Epple, 81, of Jasper, died Monday (December 2) at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born October 24, 1932, in Tell City to Edward and Loretta (Gratzer) Blandford. She married Leon L. Epple January 27, 1951, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tell City. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2006.

Betty was a homemaker and worked at Dairy Queen, 3-D, and Wal-Mart. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Blessed Virgin Sodality. She enjoyed sewing, bingo, crafts, and playing cards.

Surviving are two sons, Stan Epple and wife Cheryl,  Jasper, and Scott Epple and wife Holly, Celestine; four daughters, Karen Norman and husband Marshall, Palmyra, Virginia, Kathy Froehle and husband Michael, Liberty Township, Ohio, Kristine Effinger, Evansville, and Kelly Lehmkuhler and husband Glen, Ireland; 14 grandchildren, Leesa Norman, Ryan Froehle, Kimber Effinger, Matt Norman, Megan Froehle,  Andrea Effinger, Brad Epple, Jared Epple, Ethan Epple, Madisyn Lehmkuhler, Emily Epple, Nate Lehmkuhler, Sam Lehmkuhler, and Elaina Epple; four great-grandchildren, Alivia Embry, Abigail Embry, Liam Effinger, and William Mayfield; one sister, Donna Labhart, and husband Butch, Utica, Kentucky; three brothers, Earl Blandford and wife Ruth, Tell City, Don Blandford, Shelbyville,Kentucky, and John Blandford and wife Marge,  Evansville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Laverne and William Blandford, and one sister, Sr. Mary Martha, OSC.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at
