Leola B. Krieg, 93, Huntingburg

Leola Krieg Obituary Photo057_edited-1Leola B. Krieg, 93, of Huntingburg, died Sunday (December 1) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born August 31, 1920, in Perry County to Otis and Ada May (Lawalin) Malone. She married Alvin Krieg January 10, 1939, in Perry County.

Leola worked as a school cafeteria cook at Southridge High School, worked at Styline Goldcrest, retired from the housekeeping department of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and continued as a housekeeper cleaning offices until she was 89 years old. She was a member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Simmers, Jasper, Patricia Graman, Evansville, Priscilla “Sue” Powell and husband Jerry, French Lick, and Donna Temple and husband Duane, Jasper; three sons, Norman Krieg and wife Mary Kaye, Jasper, David Krieg and wife Margaret, Huntingburg, and Michael Krieg, Velpen; one brother, Alvin Malone and wife Gertrude, Perry County; one sister, Virginia Evans, Tell City; 20 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Krieg, who died February 26, 1963, two sons, Roger and Gary Krieg, two brothers, James and Thomas Malone, and one sister, Emogene Faulkenberg.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. (EST) Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. The Rev. Paula Young Mayberry will officiate. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntingburg United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
