Ellen Louise Meyer, 88, Holland

Ellen MeyerEllen Louise Meyer, 88, of Holland, died Monday (December 2) age 88. She was a life-long resident of Holland, except for the past four years when she moved to Evansville and Newburgh because of declining health. She was the oldest child of Willard and Regina Hunefeld.

Ellen was a lifelong member of Holland United Methodist Church and served the church in many capacities, including youth Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years. She was owner and operator of Klassy Kurl Beauty Shoppe in Holland for 64 years.

She is survived by one son, Greg Meyer and wife Sue, Evansville; two sisters, Marian Meyer and Marjorie Kaiser; two sisters-in-law, Janet Green Norris and Carolyn Kamman; many nieces and nephews, and her “Hunefeld cousins.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Glenn Meyer, who died in 2000.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. (EST) Thursday at Holland United Methodist Church with Ellen’s nephew, Reverend Joe Kamman, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the service time at the church.
