Stanley R. “Stretch” Hopf, 55, Huntingburg

Stretch HopfStanley R. “Stretch” Hopf, 55, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (November 27) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born October 19, 1958, in Huntingburg, Rufus and Hildegard (Jacob) Hopf. He married Kristina Fleck August 8, 1998, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.

Stretch worked as a farmhand, and most recently as a Herald carrier. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. He enjoyed cooking, working on cars and trucks, truck and tractor pulling, flower gardening, camping, watching the weather, and many other outdoor activities.

He is survived by his wife, Kristina Hopf; two daughters, Allison Hopf, Jasper, and Alexa Hopf, Huntingburg; three sons,
Adam, Alan, and Austin Hopf, all of Huntingburg; two sisters, Doris Harris and Carolyn Riley, both of Huntingburg; five brothers,
Gene Hopf and wife Barb, Ireland, Alfred Hopf, Princeton, Michael Hopf and wife Julie, Huntingburg, Raymond Hopf, Ferdinand, and Jerry Hopf and wife Debbie, Huntingburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gregory Hopf.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
