Osborn; Parks Appear In Court Wednesday

PARKSOSBORNThe two men charged in connection with the bar fight death of a Dubois man appeared in Dubois Circuit Court Wednesday morning.

22-year old Zachary Parks (pictured left) and 23-year old Leslie Osborn Jr., (pictured right) both of Petersburg, face charges of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the October 12th death of Timothy Stafford of Dubois.

Both are charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Stafford’s death.  Both Parks and Osborn appeared in in court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing before Dubois Circuit Judge William Weikert.  Weikert Wednesday set an omnibus hearing for both men for January 10, 2014.

An omnibus hearing is a hearing in a criminal case where the prosecutor and defendant resolve pretrial issues.

Both men have entered preliminary pleas of not guilty.

Police say two other men got into a fight outside JR’s Bar on South Clay  Street in Jasper early the morning of October 12th.

Police say Parks and Osborn are friends with one of the men in the fight, Stafford was a friend to the other.

But when Stafford tried to intervene, that’s when police say Osborn and Parks started hitting him.

Stafford was unconscious when police arrived at the scene.

He later died at Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

An autopsy showed Stafford died from blunt force trauma to the head.
