Huntingburg Woman Among Those Hurt In Pike County Accident

DSC02468-1DSC02467DSC02469Huntingburg woman was one of two people hurt in a pickup-semi accident.   Indiana State Police say 18-year old Joshua Miller of Petersburg was driving the pickup truck northbound on Indiana State Road 61 when he nodded off behind the wheel.  Police say the pickup then went left of center when it collided with a semi.   The accident was about halfway between the Arthur Junction and Spurgeon.

The driver of the semi was 33-year old Christopher Hadfield of Elberfeld.  He was not hurt.  Police say  Hadfield attempted to avoid the collision by steering partially off the roadway but the pickup collided with the semi’s left rear axle.

Miller was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  A passenger in his pickup, 22-year-old Emily Jacob of Huntingburg was taken by ambulance to Jasper’s Memorial Hospital where police say she was treated and later released.

Police say everyone was wearing seat belts.  State Road 61 was closed for about two hours while troopers investigated the crash.
