Northeast Dubois High School Claims 18th Spell Bowl State Championship

SpellLogoColor3Northeast Dubois High School added to its stranglehold on being the winningest spell bowl team in Indiana. The Jeeps won Indiana Academic Spell Bowl Class 4A State Championship at the 29th annual Indiana Academic Spell Bowl State Finals in West Lafayette Saturday.  This was the 18th state championship in school history.
Members of the 2013 Northeast Dubois spell bowl team are Bryce Butler, Courtney Correll, Lyndsey Correll, Jace Kahle, McKayla Lanman, Maddy Laux, Aubrey Marks, Melanie Marks, Latesha Merkel, Abby Merkley, Katrina Messmer, Kelli Reutman, Hannah Wehr, Jennifer Schepers, Gabbi Schepers, Allison Schroering.   The team is coached by Tina Fawks.
Sixty teams from across Indiana took part in this weekend’s state finals.  The largest schools are in Class 1, and the smallest are in Class 4.
In the Junior Division (middle schools and junior high schools), Forest Park Junior High School placed third in Class 3. Dubois Middle School was a finalist in Class 4.
