Lorena “Lora Lou” Eckerle, 85, Jasper

Lora Lou EckerleLorena (Lora Lou) Eckerle, 85 of Jasper, died Monday (November 11) at her home. She was born in Jasper February 16, 1928, to Roman and Hattie (Eckert) Renner. She married Leo Eckerle September 12, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Lora Lou was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the St. Joseph St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper VFW Post #673 auxiliary, the Memorial Hospital auxiliary, and the German Club. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, cooking, and sewing.

Surviving are her husband, Leo Eckerle; one son, Duane(Co-op) Eckerle, Jasper; one granddaughter, Cassie Mae Eckerle, Farmersburg; and one sister, Viola Wehr, Ireland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Eckerle, four sisters, Veronica Bickwermert, Aurelia Mehringer, Sally Stenftenagel, and Selma Merkley, and one brother, Ivo Renner.

Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com.
