Helen B. Neukam, 90, Dubois

HelenHelen B. Neukam, 90, of Dubois, died Wednesday (November 6) at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Dubois County March 21, 1923, to John and Anna (Meyer) Bauer. She married Clifford L. Neukam June 16, 1945, in St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads. He preceded her in death May 1, 2010.

Helen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville where she taught sunday school, vacation bible school and served on the flower committee. She was a nature lover, and enjoyed gardening, sewing, flower arranging and cooking.

Surviving are one daughter, Delores Neukam, Dubois; two sons, Gary Neukam, Dubois, and Lloyd Neukam and wife Shirley, Jasper; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Payton Andrews, three sisters, Marie Gentry, Lavina Bauer, and Lucille Bauer, who died in infancy, and six brothers, Elmer, Adolph, Fred, Martin, Otto and Willis Bauer.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville with burial following in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Rev. Charla Grieves will officiate. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church. WELCA will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
