Sicard Given Sagamore Award; Lee Begle Wins Ferdinand Chamber Community Service Award

Ferd_CoC_2color_150Ferdinand Town Council President Ken Sicard and recently retired local school principal Lee Begle were given special awards during Wednesday night’s annual Ferdinand Chamber of Commerce Dinner.

Sicard was given a Sagamore of the Wabash honor by last night’s keynote speaker, Indiana Lt.  Gov. Sue Ellspermann, who is a Ferdinand native.

The chamber’s Community Service Award was given to now retired Ferdinand Elementary Principal Lee Begle.  Begle retired after the 2012-13 school year after 41 years with the local school corporation, the 34 as Ferdinand Elementary Principal.

The Ferdinand Chamber of Commerce also honored three local siblings with a Profiles In Success award.  The award was presented to Lisa Welp, Chris Welp and Staci Nayeri for their work with the youth pillar of Ferdinand’s Hometown Competitiveness effort.  The Profiles In Success Award is given to Forest Park High School graduates who are recongnized as an inspiration to current students.

The three are the children of  Gene and Barb Welp of Ferdinand.

Last night’s chamber dinner was held at the Ferdinand Community Center.
