Linus F. Rahman, 90, Ferdinand

New ObitLinus F. Rahman, 90, of Ferdinand, died Monday (November 4) at Memorial Health Center in Jasper. He was born June 25, 1923, in Spencer County to Frank and Christine (Pund) Rahman. He married Hilda Metzger August 26, 1947, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Linus was a retired dairy farmer. He retired in 1988. He was a member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and its St. Joseph Sodality, and a lifetime member of Merrills’ Marauders 475th 2nd Battalion. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, World War II Victory Medal, Bronze Star Medal and China Ribbon.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hilda; for sons, Alan and wife Georgia, Edwin and wife Gloria, and Steve and wife Angela, all of Ferdinand, and Frank and spouse Mary, Santa Claus; seven daughters, Marcella Harpenau and husband Paul, Branchville, Margaret Hoffman and husband David, Mary Jo Giesler and husband William, and Doris Klem and husband Bernard “Butch,” all of Ferdinand, Carol Lueken and husband Kenneth, Hatfield, Missouri, Martha Demuth and husband Charles,  St. Meinrad, and Connie Mundy and husband Steve, Jasper; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Linus was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Henry Rahman, and one sister, Marcella Rahman.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rights. Visitation from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Condolences may be shared at
