Dorothy M. Schroering-Lueken, 89, Jasper

Lueken, DorothyDorothy M.  Schroering-Lueken, 89, of Jasper, died Wednesday (October 30) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in St. Anthony February 1, 1924, to Frank and Anna (Striegel) Friedman. Her first marriage was to Cornelius Schroering on August 2, 1947. He preceded her in death March 20, 1987. She then married Norbert L. Lueken October 10, 1998. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2012.

Dorothy worked  at Wal Mart in Jasper and for 3D Department Store. She also worked at Touch of Class, Parket Market, the American Legion, and General Electric in Huntingburg. During World War II she helped build airplane wings at the Japer Wood Products Company. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Doane and husband Patrick, Jasper, and Marietta Foster and husband Patrick, Washington; two sons, Glen Schroering, Phoenix, Arizona, and Tim Schroering and wife Roz, Winona, Minnesota; one step daughter, Deborah Lannan, and husband Steven, Jasper; one step son, Greg J. Lueken and wife Sherril, Jasper; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren,  four step grandchildren, and one step great-grandchild.

In addition to her prents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ermin, Vic and Robert Friedman, and two sisters, Helen Underwood and Selma Merkley.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, or to a favorite charity.
