Lloyd D. Pancake, 84, Ferdinand

Lloyd PancakeLloyd D. Pancake, 84, of Ferdinand, died Monday (October 7) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. He was born in Huntingburg March 27, 1929, to Alva and Margaret (Eilert) Pancake. He married Anna M. Verkamp.

Lloyd was an insurance agent for John Hancock Life for 26 years and previously was employed by Standard Oil. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish, Fraternal Order of Police,a and American Legion Post 124 of Ferdinand. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Anna M. Pancake; one daughter, Jane Buys, Louisville; one son, Steve Pancake, Ferdinand; four brothers, Kenneth Pancake, Winslow, Louis and Marvin Pancake, both of Velpen, and Roger Pancake, Jasper; and one sister, Mildred Neukam and husband Bill, Dubois.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Gerken.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand. Burial of the cremains will be in the church cemetery. American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside services. There will be no visitation. Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
