Walton M. “Wally” Bauer, 70, Jasper

Wally Bauer editedWalton M. “Wally” Bauer, 70, of Jasper, died Tuesday (October 1) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Shoals August 14, 1943, to Henry and Mary (Mann) Bauer. He married Susie Jones on May 1, 1970, in Shoals Methodist Church.

Wally worked as a draftsmen/estimator for most of his life, and was well known as a musician, performing with many local bands including Freddy and the Boys, Junction 64, Ray and Lovin’ Country, and The Sintars. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dubois and the Jasper Moose. He loved music and enjoyed being a handyman.

Surviving are his wife, Susie Bauer; one daughter, Angie West, Fishers; one son, Nathan Bauer and fiancĂ© Kelly Frey, Zionsville; two grandsons, Cameron and Brayden West; four sisters, Rose McKibben and Helen Greene, both of Shelbyville; Margaret Zehr, and husband Armin, Dubois, and Ann Troutman and husband Lee, French Lick; four brothers, Pete Bauer and wife Carolyn, Greenwood, August “Augie” Bauer, Shoals, Louis Bauer and wife Helen, Haysville, and Kenny Bauer, Dubois; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Bauer.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Mary Poston will officiate. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dubois or to a favorite charity.
