Marcella “Sally” E. Vaal, 75, Jasper

Sally VaalMarcella (Sally) E. Vaal, 75, of Jasper, died Wednesday (September 25) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. She was August 4, 1938, in Jasper, to William and Philomena (Kapp) Lampert. She married Jerome “Jerry” Vaal February 20, 1960, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Sally was a homemaker, a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Senior Citizens of St. Anthony, and an Associate Member of the Shepherds of Christ Ministries. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, quilting, traveling, cooking, shopping, playing cards, entertaining, making floral arrangements, and going on pilgrimages.

Surviving are her husband, Jerry Vaal; five daughters, Sandy Grimme and husband Joe, Indianapolis, Beverley Buckley and husband Mike, Glendale, Arizona, Carmen Shalda and husband Lou, Rockford, Michigan, Lori Smallwood and husband Mike, Greenwood, and Kellie Coykendall and husband Dan, Middleville, Michigan; two sisters, Virginia Vaal and husband Art, and Rosie Werner and husband Ed, all of Jasper; four brothers, Ambrose Lampert and wife Nancy, Romie Lampert and wife Carol,
Linus Lampert and wife Judy, and Gene Lampert and wife Cindy, all of Jasper; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Alberta Voegerl, and one brother, Norbert Lampert.

Funeral services 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9-10 a.m. Monday before services at the church. The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m. Sunday. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed at the Divine Providence Adoration Chapel, located at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, at 3 p.m. Sunday.
