Edward H. Kahle, 92, Huntingburg

Ed Kahle USEEdward H. Kahle, 92, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday (September 24) at The Waters of Huntingburg.    He was born March 6, 1921, in Huntingburg, to Harvey W. and Amanda M. (Hunefeld) Kahle. He married Rose L. Sakel November 27, 1954, at the Methodist Church in Huntingburg.

Ed was a 1939 graduate of Holland High School and was a lifelong farmer. He was a Hoosier Homestead farmer and did custom baling, combining, and silage harvesting. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland where he held numerous offices including council president, secretary and cemetery committee member. He was a Sunday school teacher and member of the church choir for over 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and playing cards with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; two sons, John and wife Linda Kahle, Jasper, and Thomas and wife Regina, Huntingburg; two sisters, Louanna Beckley, Lynnville, and Florence Hunter, Holland; six grandchildren, Ben Kahle, Phillip Kahle, Meredith Fulda, Caroline Kahle, Daniel Kahle and Emma Kahle; and two step grandchildren, Eric Waltz and Hilary Fleck.

Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) Saturday at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland with burial following in St. Paul Cemetery. Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and at the church from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
