Ruby I. Gehlhausen, 93, Birdseye

Ruby GehlhausenRuby I. Gehlhausen, 93, of Birdseye died Monday (September 16) at River Point Health Campus in Evansville. She was born June 9, 1920, in Warrick County to James and Golda (Taylor) Lauderdale. She married Ambrose A. Gehlhausen on November 11,1941, in St. Martin Of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia. He preceded her in death on January 25,2007.

Ruby was a member of St. Martin Of Tours Catholic Church, Siberia. Her hobbies include crossword puzzles and crocheting. She was an avid reader. Ruby and her husband owned and operated A & R Country Store in Birdseye. She was a former employee at Grants Department Store and Sears.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty Glaz and husband Thomas, Columbia, South Carolina, Patricia Dean and husband Patrick, Evansville, and Joan Gehlhausen, Birdseye; 11 grandchildren, Eric Carson, Michele Leahy, Nancy Glaz, John and Mark Glaz, Carrie and Michael Dean, Natalie Boyles, Eric and Kevin Schatz, Tara Oliver, and Lori Delagarza; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Casey, Sevierville, Tennessee and Geneva Shourd, Evansville; and one brother, Loren Lauderdale, Evansville.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn J. Carson; one son, Gregory Gehlhausen; two grandchildren and seven siblings.

Funeral services at 10 AM (CDT) Friday at St. Martin Of Tours Catholic Church, Siberia, with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. Thursday and 7-9:30 a.m. Friday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. Online condolences may be made at
