Leroy T. Schepers, 78, Jasper

Leroy SchepersLeroy T. Schepers, 78, of Jasper, died Saturday (August 31) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born April 4, 1935, in Jasper, to Leonard and Rose (Ebert) Schepers. He married Virginia R. Mundy May 23, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Leroy was retired from Kimball International, where he worked as a long distance truck driver for many years. He served in the Indiana National Guard, was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper Moose Lodge, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia R. Schepers, Jasper; two daughters, Marcia Mehringer and her spouse Glen, Jasper, and Theresa Oser and her spouse Bill, Brownsburg; two sons, Lenny Schepers, Jasper, and Mark Schepers and his spouse Vicki, Brownsburg; ten grandchildren,
Jeremy Mehringer, Tracy Mehling, Kelly Mehringer, Ben Oser, Emily Oser, Nicole Warner, Natasha Schepers, Taylor Schepers, Luke Schepers, and Connor Schepers; four great grandchildren, Reid and Max Mehringer, and Karli and Peyton Warner; one sister, Ardella Durcholz and her spouse Sylvester, Ireland; and one brother, Cletus Schepers and his spouse Virlee, Jasper.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Schepers and Clarence Schepers.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Jasper Moose Lodge will perform a memorial service at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
