Hilbert Frank Kunkler, 81, St. Meinrad


ObitHilbert Frank Kunkler, 81, of St. Meinrad, died Tuesday (September 3) at The Waters Of  Scottsburg in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was born September 16, 1931, in Adyeville, Indiana, to Joseph H. & Ottilla (Otto) Kunkler. He married Rita J. Jasper on June 22, 1957, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Hilbert was employed at Hoosier Garage in Ferdinand, and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Meinrad Parish,  a Korean War veteran, and a member of St. Meinrad Legion Post 366.

Surviving are his wife, Rita J. Kunkler; one daughter, Caroline Mullis and husband Jim, St. Meinrad; two grandchildren, Kristina Nadin and Luke Mullis; two brothers, Jerome Kunkler and wife Marlene, St. Marks, and Albert Kunkler and wife Imogene. Ferdinand; and one sister, Lucille Bumm, New Boston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and twin brothers Edmond and Raymond Kunkler who died in infancy.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. (CDT) Friday at St. Meinrad Catholic Church with burial following the church cemetery. Saint Meinrad Legion Post 366 will conduct military graveside rites.
