Helen M. Englert, 94, Jasper

Helen Englert USEHelen M. Englert, 94, of Jasper, formerly of St. Anthony, died Sunday (September 1) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Birdseye, on September 3, 1918, to Hamor and Lula (Taylor) Eckert. She married Theodore C. Englert September 26, 1939, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He preceded her in death December 28, 1999.

Helen was a homemaker, a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the St. Anthony Christian Mothers, and a charter member of the Extension Homemakers. She was a 4-H leader for many years, and enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Voegerl, and Doris Tucker, both of Jasper, and Cheryl Chapman, and her husband, Ernie, French Lick; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Welp, two granddaughters, Amy Voegerl and Amanda Chapman, and one brother, Burton Eckert.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel and one hour before services at the church.
