Marlene Sunderman, 80, Huntingburg

B Marlene Sunderman editedMarlene Sunderman, 80, of Huntingburg, died Thursday (August 29) at her home. She was born May 28, 1933, in Velpen to John William and Gertrude (Ward) Hellman.

Marlene graduated from Otwell High School in 1951 and married Ben Sunderman January 12, 1952, in Huntingburg. She worked at Swift and Company as a turkey grader and enjoyed time spent at home with her husband and her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Sunderman, Huntingburg; one niece, Kimberly Marlene Hellman Parks, Velpen; three nephews, Charles “Chuck” (spouse Sarah) Hellman, Jr., Jasper,

John D. (spouse Donna) Hellman, Velpen, and Paul Joe (spouse Michelle) Hellman, Bossier City, Louisiana; and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles William Hellman.

Graveside services at 10 a.m. (EDT) on Saturday at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen. The Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements.
