Mildred L. “Millie” Goeppner, 80, Ireland

Millie editedMildred L. “Millie” Goeppner, 80, of Ireland, died Saturday (August 17) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Jasper March 24, 1933, to Leo and Irma (Mendel) Scherle. She married John Goeppner July 5, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Millie was a homemaker, farmer, and also worked part time at the Haysville Mill and at the Chicken Place. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, the Ireland St. Ann’s Society, and a past member of the Jasper D of I. She enjoyed playing cards, word searches, and cooking and canning.

Surviving are her husband, John  Goeppner, Ireland; two daughters, Becky Oser and her husband Steve, Ireland, and Annette Leinenbach and her husband Lance, Jasper; four sons, Chris Goeppner and his wife Cita, Madison, Frank Goeppner and his wife Linda, Jasper, and Joe Goeppner and Gene Goeppner, both of Ireland; nine grandchildren, Jackie Goeppner, Andy Goeppner, Andrea Brown, Adam Goeppner, Brooke Greenwell, Keisha Oser, Cody Goeppner, Emerich, and Landen Leinenbach; four great-grandchildren, Ava Louise Greenwell, Liam Goeppner, and Naomi and Kyndal Brown; two brothers, Bernie Scherle and his wife Rosalie, and Don Scherle and his wife Eileen, all of Jasper; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Fleck, and two brothers, Richard Scherle and Thomas Scherle, Sr.

Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland with burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
