Wanda M. Richardt, 95, Huntingburg

WandaWanda M. Richardt, 95, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (August 14) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.          She was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on December 24, 1917, to Raymond and Hettie (Ranson) Goodson. She married John J. Richardt on September 16, 1936.

Wanda worked as a nanny and housekeeper in Chicago for various families. After her marriage, in addition to her work as a homemaker, she worked at General Electric in Tell City and then later at DMI in Huntingburg and Jasper Desk. Since 1969, Wanda has been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Her interests included knitting, crocheting and embroidering, reading, gardening, and baking – her specialties were Hartshorne cookies at Christmas and cream pies with meringue.

She is survived by three sons, Rev. J. Lawrence Richardt, Huntingburg, Joe (wife Bonne) Richardt, Huntingburg, and Steve (wife Sharon) Richardt, Claremore, Oklahoma; two daughters, Marilyn (companion Don Nargi) Evans, Muncy, Pennsylvania, and Susan (husband Paul) LeMond, Jasper; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Richardt, who died June 28, 1980, three sisters and two brother-in-law – Edith (Elmer) Myer, Opal (Joe) Reber, and Hilda Goodson; and one brother and one sister-in-law, Charles (Carol) Goodson.

Funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. (EDT) Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial following in Calvary Cemetery in Troy. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
