James J. “Jim” Schuler, 52, Ireland

Schuler, JimJames J. “Jim” Schuler, 52, of Ireland, died Sunday (August 11) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born July 12, 1961, to Remus and Eileen (Lueken) Schuler. He married Marlene Bohnenkamper June 20, 1987, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Jim graduated from Jasper High School in 1979 and from Vincennes University in 1981. He was employed at Versteel for 22 years, and most recently at Kimball. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, and was a former member of the Jasper Jaycees. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, Indiana University basketball, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and San Francisco 49ers football. He also enjoyed coaching his daughters’ Ireland minor league softball teams and attending their sporting and school events. He took an interest in doing many¬† home projects, and enjoyed spending time with his two dogs, Sophie and Max.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene Schuler, Ireland; two daughters, Lauren Schuler (and fiancé Zac Frick) and Emily Schuler, both at home; two sisters, Cheryl Wilmes, Ferdinand, and Janet Lechner and husband Tim, Jasper; three brothers, Dave Schuler, Jasper, Kenny Schuler and wife Sheila, Jasper, and Reggie Schuler and wife Lavina, Chandler; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Remus and Eileen Schuler.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
