Albert W. Lueken, 88, Jasper

Albert LuekenAlbert W. Lueken, 88, of Jasper,died Tuesday (August 13) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born January 24, 1925, in Schnellville to Math and Frances (Prechtel) Lueken. He married LaVerne C. Sermersheim  June 29, 1948, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.  She preceded him in death on July 2, 2013.

Albert was a World War II veteran, and served in the European Theater as a member of the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC). He retired from Jasper Chair as an upholsterer after many years of service. He was a member of the Jasper VFW Post #673, enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are two daughters, Pat Dodson and husband Carl, Jasper, and Becky Eckert and husband Tom, Evansville; one son, Bill Lueken and wife Diana, Jasper; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one brother, Herbert Lueken and  wife Rita, Jasper.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Buechler and Ardella Weyer, and four brothers, Othmar, Ollie, Edwin, and Robert Lueken.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m.  Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before service from 9-10 a.m. at the church.
