Carol J. Schwindel, 81, Huntingburg

carol schwindel editedCarol J. Schwindel, 81, of Huntingburg died Friday (August 9) at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky.

She was born February 27, 1932, in Dale Leo P. and Helen B. (Purviance) Bosler. She married Gilbert C. Schwindel, Jr., on August 21, 1952, at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey.

Carol retired from the Huntingburg Convalescent Center where she worked as a Q.M.A.. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Patoka Homemakers and V.F.W. Post #2366 auxiliary; she was a past director of the Huntingburg Meals on Wheels program; and enjoyed quilting and scrapbooking.

She is survived by three sons, Kevin E. (Mary Jo) Schwindel, St. Meinrad, Lonnie R. (Gail) Schwindel, Lewisport, Kentucky, and Jan A. (Leah) Schwindel, Hawesville, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Dr. Leslie Schwindel, Chicago, Michael Schwindel, Lexington, Kentucky, and Jacob Schwindel, Henderson, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Bosler; her mother, Helen Bosler Schaefer; and her husband of 60 years, Gilbert C. Schwindel Jr., who died February 15, 2013.

Funeral services 10 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Nass and Son Funeral Home.
