LaVerne C. Lueken, 85, Jasper

laverne editedLaVerne C. Lueken, 85, of Jasper died Tuesday (July 2) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born April 2, 1928, in Jasper to Fred and Matilda (Beck) Sermersheim. She married Albert Lueken on June 29, 1948, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper

She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper in the Jasper area for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed making applique and embroidered quilt blocks for Holy Family Catholic Church, which she did for many years. She also liked to travel.

Surviving are her husband, Albert Lueken, Jasper; two daughters, Pat Dodson and her husband Carl, Jasper, and Becky Eckert and her husband Tom, Evansville; one son, Bill Lueken and his wife, Diana, Jasper; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
