Roberta Weyer, 80, Ireland

Roberta WeyerRoberta Weyer, 80, of Ireland, passed away Thursday (June 27) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

She was born on February 18, 1933, in Ferdinand, to Joseph and Frances (Hedinger) Messmer. She married Ferdie B. Weyer Jr. on October 20, 1951, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2002.

She was a homemaker and lifetime farmer, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, and the St. Ann’s Society. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and traveling.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Morgan, Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Donna Spayd, and her husband Stan, Evansville; two sons, James Weyer and his wife Arleta, Ferdinand, and Thomas Weyer, and his fiancé Kimberly Balling, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Sr. Mary Carol Messmer, Beech Grove, Indiana, Therese Paulin and her husband Earl, Siberia, Indiana, Carol Fehribach and her husband Tom, Mount Vernon, Indiana, and Jean Hefner and her husband Jerry, Huntington Beach, California; and one brothers, Jerry Messmer and his wife Linda, Jasper.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Pete Messmer, four sisters, Clara Boeckman, Sr. Mary Gerald Messmer, Mary Ann Corley , and Dorothy Helming, and two brothers who died in infancy, Joseph and Thomas Messmer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
