Albert J. Graehler, 83, Louisville

Al GraehlerAlbert J. Graehler, 83, of Louisville, died Tuesday (Jue 25) at his home.

He was born in Jasper on April 1, 1930, to Albert and Lorena Graehler.

Mr. Graehler retired as administration manager for IBM after 37 years. He was a graduate of Jasper High School and the University of Mississippi, where he was captain of the varsity basketball, baseball and cross country teams. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Louisville, where he was hospitality minister and a Eucharistic minister.

Surviving are his wife, Edna Mae (Knust) Graehler; four daughters, Ann Flaherty and husband Mike, Donna Medley, Mary Barth and husband Brandon and Susan Wood and husband Tim; three sons, Michael Graehler and wife Mary, Randy Graehler and wife Karen and John Graehler and wife Cindy; one brother, Father Kenneth Graehler; one sister, Carol Hufnagel, and husband Walter; 24 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lee Graehler, and a grandson.

Funeral services at  9 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made to The Piarist School and Right to Life.
