Wallace Wilbur Wibbeler, 85, Holland

Wallace WibblerWallace Wilbur Wibbeler, 85, of Holland, died Tuesday (June 18) at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.

He was born August 20, 1927, in Holland, to Rufus and Sarah Gladys (Kemper) Wibbeler. He was a graduate of Holland High School Class of 1945 and served with the military in the United States Army Infantry from 1946 to 1947. He married Doris Holderbaugh on July 3, 1949, in Holland at the Methodist Church Parsonage.

Wallace worked as a cabinet maker at the Holland Planing Mill for 20 years and as a kiln operator at Alcoa for 24 ½ years. He was a member of the Holland United Methodist Church and former member of the Holland Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially gardening. He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Wibbeler.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Wibbeler, Huntingburg; one son, Jon Wibbeler and wife Betty, Holland; three daughters, Debra Carmack and husband, Alan, Evansville, Jennifer Kern and husband Alan, Huntingburg, and Beth Carter and husband, Earl, Huntingburg; two sisters, Marjorie Houchin, McAllen, Texas, and Donna Sue Furhman, Holland; two brothers, Jerome Wibbeler, Holland, and Alan Wibbeler, Huntingburg; nine grandchildrfen, eight step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and 18 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (EDT) Saturday at the Holland United Methodist Church in Holland with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Holland American Legion Memorial Detail. Rev. Marianne Hawkins and Rev. Logananne McCullough will officiate the funeral service.

Friends may call at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2-8 p.m. Friday; and at Holland United Methodist Church from 10-11 a.m. Saturday prior to the funeral.
