Ralph A. Brescher, 84, Jasper

Ralph BrescherRalph A. Brescher, 84, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday in Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

He was born in Jasper on October 19, 1928,  to  Henry and Esther (Blessinger) Brescher. He married Rosemary Egloff September 3, 1953. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2003.

Ralph was a World War II Army veteran serving in the special services division. He was the founder of the Dubois County Tire and Supply in Jasper and the Brescher’s Wheel Stop restaurant. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jasper Knight of Columbus, V.F.W. Post # 673, and American Legion Post # 147.

Surviving are one son, Steve Brescher and his wife Debbie, Jasper; four daughters, Jane Blickenstaff and her husband Stephen, Lynchburg, Virginia, Beth Brelage and her husband Tom, Bardstown, Kentucky, Karen Mundy and her husband Philip, Jasper, and Mary Jo Messmer and her husband Roger, Jasper; 10 grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Roman Jacob, and one brother, Cyril Brescher.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. V.F.W. Post # 673 will conduct military grave side rites.Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel  in Jasper.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, to Northwood Retirement Community, or to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
