Frederick L. Neukam, 87, Loogootee

Frederick NeukamFrederick L. Neukam, 87, of Loogootee, passed away Sunday (June 16) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

He was born January 15, 1926, in Shoals to Fred and Mary (Mann) Neukam. He married Martha Durcholz on January 28, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Frederick was a lifetime farmer and was named Outstanding Young Farmer of Martin County. He served in Korea as a member of the United States Army, was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, and served on the church council. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and Indiana University basketball fan.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Neukam; three daughters, Brenda Keusch and her husband Steve, Jasper, Janet Matthews and her husband, Jim, Loogootee, and Donna Baker and her husband Kevin, Loogootee; one son, Keeven  Neukam and his wife Brenda, Loogootee; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Neukam and his wife Joyce, Henderson, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, with burial to follow in the Haysville Community Cemetery. American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
