James C. Sermersheim, 81, Evansville

James C. Sermersheim, 81, Evansville, died Wednesday (June 12) at his home. He was born in Jasper on October 11, 1931, to Bernard and Estella Sermersheim.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Sermersheim; one sister, Ramona Johnson and husband Howard of New Albany; and nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Jasper High School and attended Indiana State University Teachers College and the Art Institute of New York. He owned and operated Sermersheim’s Corvette for 45 years. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Road Knights, West Side Nut Club and Old Damn Band in Newburgh. He served in the U.S. Army and played trumpet in the U.S. Army Band. He enjoyed bass fishing.

The funeral was held Monday at Alexander West Chapel, Evansville. Burial was in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville. Condolences may be shared at www.AlexanderWestChapel.com.
