Cordella M. Klem, 85, Huntingburg

CordellaCordella M. Klem, 85, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday (June 11) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born November 9, 1927, in Ireland, to Gerhard and Helen (Haas) Hackman. She married Raymond B. Klem on October 4, 1947.

Cordella was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing solitaire and quilting with her friends at St. Mary’s. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

She is survived by five daughters, Linda Lowe,  Louisville, Donna (Larry) Lindauer, Huntingburg, Connie Stoops, Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Jane (Jim) Quehl, Newburgh, and Sandy (Todd) King, Fishers; four sons, Dennis (Shirley) Klem, Evansville, Gary Klem, Balch Springs, Texas, Paul Klem and John Klem, both of Huntingburg; one sister, Clara Rose Skaggs, Huntingburg; one brother, Gerhard Hackman, Jr., Huntingburg; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her canine and feline companions, Misty and Suzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond B. Klem, who died May 5, 1997, one brother, Cletus Hackman, and one sister, Dorethea Grant.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (EDT) Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
