Johanna “Jo” Lewallen, 77, Huntingburg

Johanna LewallenJohanna “Jo” A. Lewallen, 77, of Huntingburg, died Friday (June 7) at her home.

She was born October 28, 1935, in Dubois County to Hershel and Loretta (Klee) Wood. She married George R. Lewallen October 4, 1986, in Hawaii. Johanna was a homemaker and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Schwinghammer, who died in 1984.

She is survived by her husband, George R. Lewallen, Huntingburg; one daughter, Julie Sparrow, Huntingburg; three stepdaughters, Lisa K. LeWallen, Nashville, Melanie Lewallen Claybroooks, Nashville, and Lynne P. LeWallen, Detroit; two stepsons, Marty Lewallen, Kensington, California, and Jeff Lewallen, Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Doug Wood, Bradenton, Florida; two sisters, Connie Stivers, Louisville, and Kay Taylor, Port Saint Joe, Florida; two grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and three step-greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nass and Son Funeral home from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
