Paul Blessinger, 81, Jasper

Paul BlessingerPaul Blessinger, 81 of Jasper, died Thursday (June 6) at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Jasper on August 8, 1931, to Leo and Florentine (Merkley) Blessinger.

Paul was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator for Knies Construction for many years. He served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and was known as “Kingfish.” He also enjoyed hunting and playing cards.

Surviving are two sisters, Georgina (Jeanne) Leinenbach and husband Ron, Jasper, and Bernice Miller, California; two brothers, Leo  V.  Blessinger and wife Germaine, and Eugene Leonard Blessinger and wife Margaret,  both of Jasper; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Ambs, Dorothy Burke, and Rose Marie Wehr; two brothers, Conrad Blessinger and Edwin Blessinger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.
