Edward “Sparky” Hentrup, 77, Jasper

SparkyEdward “Sparky” Hentrup, 77 of Jasper, passed away Friday (June 7) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

He was born in Celestine on October 21, 1935, to Edward and Theresa (Thewes) Hentrup. He married Joan Mendel on May 25, 1961, in Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.

He was employed by Forest Products Manufacturing for over 50 years, where he served as a truck driver and worked in shipping and receiving department. He served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and the Precious Blood Men’s Club. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and was an avid Indiana University basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Hentrup; two sons, Wayne Hentrup and fiancé Sandy Effinger, Evansville, and Terry Hentrup, Jasper; one sister, Alberta Luebbehusen, Ferdinand; one brother, Romie Hentrup and spouse Alice, Jasper; one step-granddaughter, Kayla Effinger, Evansville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church or a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com .
