Alberta T. Zink, 90, Ferdinand

Alberta T. Zink, 90, Ferdinand, died Sunday (June 2) at her home.

AlbertaShe was born at St. Anthony on August 18, 1922, to George and Elizabeth (Gehl) Heichelbech. She married Francis Zink on June 10, 1941, in Ferdinand. He died July 4, 1987.

Surviving are two sons, Lee Zink and wife Giesla of Robinson, Illinois, and Brian Zink and wife Kim of Rossville; five daughters, Sharon Leggans of Murphysboro, Illinois, Jeanne Zink of Schnellville, Sylvia Stemle and husband Charlie of Montgomery, Alabama, Elaine Parker and husband Keith of Westfield and Vicki Meyer and husband Jim of Ferdinand; two brothers, Silas “Hike” and Romie Heichelbech, both of Ferdinand; sister Mary Frances “Sancy” Mulryan of Bloomington;15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Kenneth, Thomas and David Zink; two brothers, Lawrence and Walter Heichelbech; a sister, Betty Bickwermert; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Zink retired as a cook from Fleig’s Café and Oasis Bar & Grill. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing.

Funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Becher Funeral home in Ferdinand. Condolences may be shared at
