Eugene W. Gudorf, 71, Jasper

Eugene GudorfEugene W. Gudorf, 71, of Jasper, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday (May 28) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

He was born in Evansville on April 22, 1942, to Hubert and Blanche (Nemer) Gudorf. He married Irma Eckstein on September 5, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Eugene was the founder and president of Gudorf Supply Company in Jasper, which he started in March of 1964. He was a member of St. Bonifice Catholic Church in Fulda, and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the  Dubois County Builders Association, Southern Indiana PHCC, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, A lifetime member of the NRA, The Fulda Sportsman’s Club, and the Jasper Rifle and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, being at the farm, driving his tractor, and being at work.

Surviving are his wife, Irma; four daughters, Cindy Nicholson and husband Keith, Marsha  Jones and husband Scott, and Paula Shaw and husband Michael, all of Jasper, and Michelle Sherman and husband Cory, Huntingburg; four sons, Kevin Gudorf and wife Beth, Mark Gudorf and wife Louise, and Brad Gudorf and wife Tracey, all of Jasper, and Michael Gudorf and wife Amanda, St. Meinrad; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Alene Kerstiens and husband Leroy, Ferdinand; one brother, Lloyd Gudorf and wife Barb, Jasper.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Gudorf.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (EST) Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from noon-8 p.m. (EST) Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9 a.m. to the 11:00 a.m. service time on Friday at the church.
