Theodore Bauer, 89, Lawrence County

Theodore Bauer, 89 of Lawrence County, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at his home. He was the son of Charles and Anna (Meyer) Bauer and was born in Dubois County on Feb. 4, 1924.

He graduated from Dubois High School in 1942. He was a World War II veteran,  serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, was a lifetime member and past commander of American Legion Post 61 in Shoals, and a member and past service officer of the VFW in Jasper. From 1946-1957, he was public relations and loan officer of the Dubois County Bank in Jasper. From 1957-1962, he was Executive Vice President and President/CEO of Martin County Bank in Shoals. From 1963-1970, he was partner and Vice President of Knoll Machinery Co. in Jasper. From 1970 until he retirement, he was a salesman for various car dealerships in Southern Indiana.

Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Bauer Henry of Winnabow, North Carolina; two sons, Mark and Larry Bauer of Bedford; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marsha Kay; a son, Steven Bauer; two brothers, Carl Bauer and Lester Bauer; and three sisters, Ophelia Vogel, Elsie Neukam, and Elnora Breidenbaugh.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to American Legion Post 61 in Shoals. Cresthaven Funeral Home and Memory Garden/White River Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
