Patricia A. Brown, 82, Huntingburg

Patricia BrownPatricia A. Brown, 82, Huntingburg, died Thursday evening (April 18) at her home.

She was born in Jasper on July 10, 1930, to August and Gertrude (Reuber) Denning. She married Lionel J. “Brownie” Brown on January 2, 1953, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He died September 25, 2008.

Surviving are six daughters, Alice Merkel, and her husband, Sylvester, Marva Leibering, Janet Jackson, and her husband, Dennis, and Jill Tretter, and her husband, Brian, of Huntingburg, Kimberly Jackson, Hawthorne, Florida., and Kristi Brown, Richmond, Maine; eight sons, Lionel Brown Jr., and his wife, Lisa, Jude Allen Brown, Tom Brown, and his wife, Karen, and Kurt Brown, of Huntingburg, Scott Brown, and his wife, Karen, of Ferdinand, Daniel and Marcus Brown, Indianapolis, and James Brown, and his partner, Clarisson DaRocha, Jacksonville, Florida.; a sister, Glenda Chappell, Huntingburg; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Eugene “Bud” Denning and Paul, Glen, Kenneth and Joseph Hoffman, and a grandson.

Mrs. Brown had worked at General Electric and the Huntingburg Convalescent Center and retired from Dubois Wood Products. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 Auxiliary. She enjoyed bird-watching and gardening.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish vigil prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and a VFW Post 2366 Auxiliary memorial service is set for 6:30 p.m.
