Andrew Wajvoda, 72, Birdseye

Andrew Wajvoda, 72, Birdseye, died Friday (April 19) in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in Illinois.

He was born in Chicago on June 18, 1940, to Andrew John and Eleanor (Bartulis) Wajvoda.

Surviving are a daughter, Kelly Wilson, and her husband, Rick, Eldorado, Illinois.; a son, Andrew Wajvoda, and his wife, Dawn, Iowa; two brothers, John W. and Rick C. Wajvoda; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Wajvoda.

Mr. Wajvoda was baptized in the Catholic faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and worked as a pipefitter for Inland Steel Co. for 37 years. He was an avid fisherman and reader.

His body was cremated. A scattering service was held Sunday at Patoka Reservoir. Rick Wilson officiated. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the home of his brother Rick Wajvoda in DeMotte. Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado, is in charge of arrangements.
