Ruth Ann Waller, 62, Evansville

RuthRuth Ann Waller, 62, Evansville, died Saturday (April 13) in Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.

She was born to Herbert and Mary Ann Schwenk. Surviving are her husband, Doug Waller; daughter Kristin Dahmer and her husband, Josh, Newburgh; a son, Chad Waller, Clearwater, Florida.; six sisters, Marilyn “Toot” Schwenk, Janet Kordes, Debbie Schwenk, Shelly Main, and Jody Verkamp, Jasper, and Karen Hoffman, Schnellville; five brothers, Mike, Ron, Tim, Mark and Keith Schwenk, Jasper; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Schwenk.

Mrs. Waller enjoyed cooking, gardening, making crafts and playing cards. She graduated from Ireland High School and the University of Evansville and began teaching at Holy Spirit elementary school in Evansville. She initiated and coordinated the University of Southern Indiana’s first women’s intercollegiate sports program, which includes tennis, basketball, fast-pitch softball and cheerleading.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. CDT Thursday in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Evansville. Father Jeff Read will officiate. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Evansville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. CDT Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, and after 9:30 a.m. CDT Thursday at the church.
