John Felix Schneider, 62, Jasper

SchneiderJohn Felix Schneider,62, of Jasper, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Sunday (April 14) at his home.

He was born on November 15, 1950, in Jasper to Alois and Mary (Kuper) Schneider. He married Mary (Grant) Mullen on July 31, 1995, in the Lincoln State Park Chapel. He worked for Bob Lueger’s Motors as a mechanic, and then for the Jasper Plastics Division of Kimball International in the warehouse and shipping department for over 20 years from which he retired.

Mr. Schneider was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church. He enjoyed repairing small engines, and was an avid gardener, coin collector, enjoyed painting and spending time with his grandkids and helping others.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Schneider; five daughters, Janet Kemp, Huntingburg, Christina Lehmkuhler, and her husband Paul, Jasper, Laurie VanConia, and her husband, Darren, Chrisney, Ambria Smith, and her husband Brett, Jasper, Bethany Norrick, and her husband Luke, Newtonville; one son, John “Butch” Schneider, Jr. , Jasper; 12 grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Ann Bachman, and her husband Dave, Ireland, Theresa Littrell, Jasper, Frances Purdy, and her husband Jeff, Ocala, Florida, Dorothy Kimmell and her husband George, Crystal, Helen Hagman, and her husband Roger, Tell City; one half-sister, Carla Howell and her husband, Joe, Boonville; two half-brothers, Carl Goller Jr., and his wife, Sherry, Mitchell, Lee Joe Schneider and his wife Donna, St. Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday (April 18) at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Celestine Catholic Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at
