Gary E. Flamion, 70, Jasper

Gary FlamionGary E. Flamion, 70, of Jasper, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Friday (April 12) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born on January 26, 1943, in Perry County to Leonard and Ethel (Hall) Flamion.

Gary worked for Dale Wood Manufacturing, the Jasper Corporation, the Jasper Cabinet Company, Jasper Rubber, and most recently for the Dubois County Herald. He served in the Indiana National Guard, and was a graduate of the Dale High School Class of 1961. He was a member of the Jasper Legion Post #147, the Peterburg VFW Post #3587, and the Jasper Moose Post #1175. He enjoyed camping, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and Indiana University basketball fan.

Surviving are his fiancée, Alice Morris, Jasper; his mother, Ethel Flamion, Huntingburg; one daughter, Natalie Schmitt and husband Bruce, Newark, California; one son, Cary Flamion, Washington, Indiana; two grandchildren, Michala Flamion and Tanner Schmitt; three sisters,
Gayle Lohman and husband Bill, Huntingburg, Pam Niehaus and husband John, Washington, and Debbie Tharp and husband Chris, Chrisney; two brothers, Randy Flamion and wife Lana, Holland, and Dan Flamion and wife Donna, Santa Claus; also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, with entombment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. Art Ross will officiate. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites. Friends may call from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel.
