Dr. Karin M. Gray, 48, Jasper

Dr. GrayDr. Karin M. Gray, 48, Jasper, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday (March 23) in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born  in Honolulu on April 26, 1964, to William James and Cora Sue (Baker) Gray.

Surviving are her stepfather, Thomas Persing, and his wife, Nancy, Freetown; four sisters, Kelly Suzanne Gentry, West Lafayette, Kristi Louise Paul, Austin, Texas, Kathy Della Gray, Jasper, and Julie Kay Allman, Anderson; a brother, William James Gray II, Frankton; a half brother, Devin Michael Gray, Ashburn, Va.; two stepsisters, Teri Ellen Persing, Anderson, and Jane Holycross, Indianapolis; two stepbrothers, Timothy Eugene Persing, Fort Wayne, and Theodore Edward Persing, Cincinnati, Ohio; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dr. Gray was a 1982 graduate of Lapel High School in Anderson, a 1986 graduate of Franklin College and a 1990 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati. She was an obstetrics and gynecology physician for 23 years and practiced in Jasper since 1994, working with Drs. Terry Brown, Greg Miller and Gary Kipp. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper, was on the Jasper Public Library board and was a past member of Tri Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading and crafting.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shiloh United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Becher and Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, Jasper Public Library, the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
