Gwen P. Rudolph, 95, Jasper

G RudolphGwen P. Rudolph, 95, of Jasper passed away at m 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 19) in the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

He was born in Boone Township December 11, 1917, to Joseph and Rose (Stradtner) Rudolph. He married Lucille Baker on September 16, 1937; they were married for 75 years. Gwen was a graduate of Jasper High School Class of 1934 and a lifelong Boone Township Farmer. He was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township and served on the church council and in various roles. He also served on the Dubois County Soil Conservation Board and the Dubois County Farm Bureau Board.

He and his wife, Lucille, spent 30 winters in Lake Placid , Florida, where he was an associate member of the Presbyterian church. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, playing horse shoes and fishing. For many years he enjoyed belonging to square dance clubs.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille Rudolph; one daughter, Sharon Held and her spouse J. David, Lafayette, Indiana; and two sons, Jim Rudolph and his spouse Helen, Jasper, and Ed Rudolph and his spouse Shelia, Wilmington, North Carolina; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, L.C.Rudolph, Bloomington, Indiana.

Preceding him in death was one son, John Rudolph; two granddaughters, Marcia Lynn Rudolph and Kathryn Held; and one sister, Joyce Kaible.

Funeral services wsill be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial following in St. John’s Cemetery in Boone Township. The Rev. Catherine Burnette will officiate. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel and one hour before services at church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to Northwood Retirement Community.
