Dr.Howard A. Haas, 92, Huntingburg

Dr. Howard HaasDr. Howard Andy Haas, 92, Huntingburg, died at 12:55 a.m. Monday ( March 18), at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born in Boonville on Dec. 24, 1920, to Andy and Goldie (Baker) Haas. He married Audrey Joyce Fink on March 19, 1954, in Conger, Minnesota.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey Joyce Haas; daughter Nancy Ann Salb and her husband, Gary, Jasper; three sons, Ronald Haas, Forest Park, Illinois, and Mark Haas, and his wife, Diann, and Allen Haas and his wife, Stephanie, both of Jasper; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeannette McGinness and Marian Helmbock.
Dr. Haas practiced veterinary medicine in Huntingburg. He graduated from Tennyson High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and spent most of his overseas duty in Burma and India. He attended Evansville College and earned his degree in veterinary medicine from Iowa State University in 1954. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 and a life member of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Huntingburg. The VFW Post 2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites. Rev. Mark West will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ or the Merom Campership Fund.
